If you purchase a package, it can be charged directly to your room to make it very easy. When you are on your sailing, you’ll want to put your phone in airplane mode. While cellular at sea is sometimes available, it can be quite expensive. Purchasing a WiFi package is typically the most affordable option if you want to stay connected.
During my recent (January 2023) cruise, I tested all of the various internet packages so that I could share what worked and didn’t, and how to make the internet package work for you. Disney Cruise Line is now offering guests Internet options starting at $12/day (a 24 hour period). The new Internet offering are based on type of usage versus a measured data plan such as a 1GB plan. The package tiers are Stay Connected, Basic Surf, and Premium Surf. Guests are able to purchase a-la-carte or the full voyage as well as choosing the number of concurrent devices.
It’s also the cheapest package and the most affordable plan. Using the app is complimentary to all guests regardless of whether or not you purchase an internet package. Overall, I like the new plans for the pure fact, I am not on a timer, or a megabyte limit. In my usage case, the new internet usage type plans are a significant upgrade over the megabyte allocated plans.
